A bastard child of Jarlaxle Baenre, born in secret and raised as a commoner in Menzoberanzen, to protect him from Matron Triel Baenre, Jarlaxle’s sister. Once Haelerin had become of age, he was made a Lieutenant in Bregan D’aerthe, much to the chagrin of some of the other ‘common’ drow mercenaries. With Jarlaxle’s “departure” from the mercenary band, the subsequent Leader, the psionicist Kimmuriel Oblodra felt it in everyones (including his own) best interest if Haelerin were to be separated from the opportunistic cuttthroats that make up Bregan D’aerthe, and sent him on a scouting mission to the surface world. It has been years since he has had official contact with Kimmuriel, but unofficially has been party to meetings between Jarlaxle and Kimmuriel, still maintaining his rank of Lieutenant. Kimmuriel is more than content with keeping the two Baenre’s as far from the Underdark workings of Bregan D’aerthe as possible, but still defers to Jarlaxle’s claim to the leadership of the mercenary band. Haelerin tends to sway towards his fathers definition of Justice and Honor, but also holds true to the tenets of Drow society. He is a deeply troubled soul, whose only true mission is to find himself amongst the chaos of the surface world, before returning to the arms of the mercenary company he holds so dear.
His name seems to give humans some trouble to pronounce, and they typically settle on “Hale Irwin”.
